BHS Shelter Volunteer Schedule

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our homeless shelter, located on the ground floor of the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue, 131 Remsen Street between Henry and Clinton Sts. We host ten women overnight, and serve dinner and breakfast Mon-Thur from Nov-April. For detailed information about spending the night or cooking, visit the shelter home page on the BHS website.

How to Sign up:
1. Sign In (from upper right corner of this page) and create an account, if you haven't already
2. Find a date
3. Choose Overnight or Cooking (if the area is shaded, the slots are all taken)
- if you’d like to do both, click on both slots
- if you’re volunteering to spend the night alone, we will find a partner for you
- if you’re volunteering with a partner, open an unshaded box and look to see if it is marked 0/2. If so, neither slot has yet been filled; 1/2 means one slot has been filled; 2/2 means both slots are full
- children 13 and older may volunteer to sleep overnight with a parent; kids of all ages can help thier parents with cooking and serving
