PARENTING CENTER
Recognizing the special needs of young families, the Parenting Center warmly welcomes young families with programs for infants, toddlers, their parents, grandparents and caregivers.  Our weekly Welcoming Shabbat program for babies and toddlers on Fridays, and a monthly Tot Shabbat service for two to five year olds and their families, are often the first exposure many young families have to our synagogue.  The Parenting Center is open to all; synagogue membership is not required to participate.  Many Parenting Center families, however, quickly discover the many pleasures and privileges of becoming members of our community; a special membership plan for families with young children makes it possible for many to do so.

Welcoming Shabbat
Friday Mornings, 11:00 am
Rabbi Lippe, Fred the Frog, and Nod the Dragon lead a weekly half-hour of song and blessings to welcome Shabbat including table blessings on grape juice, and challah, on most Friday mornings from September through June. Welcoming Shabbat is appropriate for infants and toddlers accompanied by a parent, grandparent or care-giver. CD's of Welcoming Shabbat prayers and songs are available in the synagogue office to continue the tradition at home.

Tot Sukkot Program
Join Rabbi Lippe in the fun as we decorate the Sukkah, sing, tell stories, wave the lulav and etrog, and, of course, eat in our beautiful sukkah.

Chanukah Family Concert
Each year at Chanukah we invite a stellar children's performer to our Sanctuary to entertain our families. Recent concerts have featured David Grover, Dan Zanes, and Shira Kline.

Tot Megillah Reading
We begin in the Sanctuary as Rabbi Lippe—in full costume—leads us through our color-in take-home Megillah.  Special prizes for the best dressed Esthers, Mordechais, Ahashverus, Haman, Wizards and Fairy Princesses.  Followed by our Purim Carnival.

Tot Passover Seder
Rabbi Lippe explains the symbolism, music and traditional foods of this holiday. Our seder experience includes: a special haggadah designed for coloring, seder sing-a-long, a taste of traditional foods, and, of course, a search for the afikomen.

Bedtime and Brachot
Eat your dinner at home, and then come in pajamas to the synagogue.  Favorite blankets, stuffed animals or dolls are more than welcome.  We will join together to explore what's Jewish about bedtime, hear a story, and learn some new bedtime rituals.

Give Teddy a Jewish Name
Children are invited to bring their favorite dolls and stuffed animals to this naming program.  We will find suitable Hebrew/Yiddish/Ladino names for all of them, as parents share and learn our own Jewish names and their meanings.  Children will make personalized naming certificates to present to their dolls and stuffed animals.  The program concludes with a naming ceremony.

Shalom Yeladim
A learning program for children’s ages 21-30 months
Classes from 9:30am to 10:45am.
